FLAIR FOR HOOP [12:45-2:15 pm]: Spinning like a dervish is just the beginning of being able to control movements in hoop. In this ADVANCED workshop, Mykelle will guide students through momentum to control spin and use it to execute skills such as flairs, meathooks, and in hoop movement. We will also touch on static movement that creates momentum such as beats and small releases.
Pre-req's: students must be able to do multiple pullovers into the hoop, spin for one minute, and feel comfortable with one hand hangs.
DON'T STEP ON ME! (ADAGIO) [2:30-4 pm]: In this workshop Cuream and Mykelle will guide students through the beginning of partner acrobatics and adagio. Theory covered will include stacking, making shelves, communication, and centre of mass with two bodies. We will go over the basics of two highs, step-ins, barrel rolls and some of the favorite balancing positions that will delight any audience.
No pre-requisites necessary!
STRAPS ESSENTIALS [7-8:30 pm]: Aerial straps are two straps attached to swivels, a rigging plate, and a single rig point. This configuration allows aerialists to perform several twists, rolls, and various body positions requiring a great deal of strength and precision. In this course, students will learn standard conditioning movements that build a solid foundation for straps like skin the cats, nutcrackers, and meathooks. All of which are tailored to the student’s pace and level. The aerial straps discipline requires a good deal of strength and primary targets the shoulders and upper body. The course will help to increase your strength overall and serves as a great cross-training apparatus for any aerial discipline.
No pre-requisites necessary!
